Guided hike to Lifjell
In Norway, one does not have to step far from the city to enjoy nature and spectacular fjord landscapes. Lifjell is one such summit close to the heart of civilization. The path takes visitors through green, mossy forest, but it is not long before the terrain changes to expose rocks and typical northern flora of spruce, bushes and shrubs, such as blueberry plants and dwarf juniper, and the common heather (or ling) so loved by Norwegian bees. The top offers incredible views over the city of Stavanger, the northern part of Jæren, the North Sea and the islands in the fjord around Stavanger.
We also offer this an afternoon hike as well as an easier option that follows a dirt road to the top.
ABOUT THE TRAIL
DURATION: 3 to 4 hours
GOOD TO KNOW
Out-and-back from Dale, Sandnes
Available year-round, but conditions are best from ???
The trail is well marked and relatively easy to follow, but depending on weather, the rocks may become slippery in some of the more demanding areas. Some hiking experience is desirable, but not mandatory.
XXX m (XXX ft.)/XXX m (XXX ft.) above sea level
GEAR AND SNACKS
Hikers should be prepared with clothes and shoes for rainy weather. Hiking boots are strongly encouraged, or approach shoes, at the very least. Other suggestions include warm, windproof and waterproof clothing.
Have some water with you to keep hydrated, preferably in a container we can refill on the trail. Norwegian mountains are full of crystal clear, clean and very tasty water sources. Lunch will not be provided, but we suggest that you bring your own snack.
Last but not least, each hiker is responsible for carrying his/her own gear, so a suitable backpack is recommended.
The red-T’s are the mark of Turistforening/Norwegian Trekking Association (link) for all trails around the country.
