The Jæren beaches are popular for several activities, however the main activities are hiking, surfing, kite surfing, swimming and sunbathing.

rules and guidelines to follow with regards to surfing. It is also forbidden to do certain sports such as kiting and surfing in certain periods of the year.
Fishing
This area is popular for salmon fishing
in the rivers of Figgjo (Figgjoelva), or you could try sea fishing from the piers in the many boat harbours. Read more about the

Hiking
The main activity at the Jæren beaches is hiking. The area is very well suited in both summer and winter for hikes.
Jæren friluftsråd has facilitated around 25 kilometres of the 70-kilometer long beachline specifically for hiking and nature experiences. The vegetation in this area is vulnerable, and visitors are therefore encouraged to pay attention to this when spending time in the areas. Visitors should be sustainable in their use of the beaches; and it is best to minimise the use of the dunes when hiking, and try to stay on the flat part of the beach.
The right to roam gives you the right to enjoy the nature, however remember that you are also responsible for sustainable use. The Jæren beaches are known for the rich bird life,
Revtangen is an important area for bird migration, and you have to keep dogs on a leash all year. There is a large variety of recreational areas, and it can be difficult to choose. Hiking from
Vigdel to Bore is a 3-hours long hike (9 km), and a fantastic way to explore the beaches.
