In fantasy, anything is possible. In our region also. Courageous stomach splashes, joyous laughter. Let the trip be a memory across generations. Go on a water slide from the top and feel the butterflies in the stomach. Build sandcastles in the sun. Pick pinecones in the forest or pick flowers in the meadow. Visit Norwegian Children's Museum and discover how Granny was playing when she was little, or try the little grey Fergie at Kongeparken. Experience the stars and planets in Vitenfabrikken Science Centre, or explore life as a platform employee at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. And what child wouldn’t like the fairytale forest at Årdal? Explore Landa park, for an exciting journey back in time. The archaeological discoveries at Landa are unique and can point to a history 2,000 years back in time - from the Bronze Age, about 1,500 B.C. to Migration Period, about 600 A.D. Enjoy quality time with the entire family. Get ready for great experiences!
From chocolate to canoeing
Visit the Stavanger & Ryfylke regions and you will find a multitude of family activities. Chocolate making courses in are surely tempting for the little ones (and big!). The chocolate you make on the course you take home with you! For those who love the outdoors, you can take the kids along for canoeing at Alsvik Nature Centre, create food on the fire, and let the kids help to pull up the fish catch of the day. Another place to go canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding with the kids is at the Preikestolen Mountain Lodge. They even offer abseiling! Sandnes has great outdoor recreation areas suitable for the entire family, such as Dalsnuten - a great hike that provides the opportunity for the smaller kids to go along as it is not too demanding. In Vagleskogen you can ride Icelandic horses at Tryggvi Islandshestegård, or go horseback riding to Uburen in Forsand with Fossanmoen Islandshestseter. Or set the bar lower, take a relaxing stroll along lake Stokkavatnet near Stavanger to feed the ducks. Or how about a visit to a great sandy beach while you're here, it's always a hit among the young ones? Bore beach is a great choice! Or simply sit back and enjoy a cruise on one of the most spectacular fjords, the Lysefjord.

Culture and food for the whole family
Of
museums there are several highlights, and families can pick and choose among the Archaeological Museum, Iron Age Farm, Norwegian Canning Museum, Norwegian Children's Museum, Vitenfabrikken Science Centre, Vitengarden Science farm, Ryfylkemuseet and their polar bear exhibition, an old farmstead, Stavanger Maritime Museum and Norwegian Petroleum Museum to name a few. A proper movie night with popcorn and snuggling in at Stavanger or Sandnes Cinema can also be a great thing to do on your holiday! Do a little extra out of it, and take the entire family out for a lovely dinner before or after the movie at one of the region’s several great restaurants or cafes. Worth mentioning are Sabi Omakase and Renaa; the region’s only Michelin starred restaurants (and the only ones in Norway out of the capital)! Let both small and large palates go exploring!
