Fishing
Most rivers and lakes are actively used for fishing, and often you need a fishing license. Check with private landowners for fishing permits. Fishing seasons vary from river to river, and you should check with local tourist offices for more information. It's important for all fishers to respect one another by not staying too long at one fishing spot.

Rivers Bjerkreimselva, Dirdalselva, Figgjoelva, Frafjordåna, Soknaelva and Suldalslågen are among the most popular fishing rivers. Suldalslågen is additionally popular for salmon safari and river expedition at Mo Laksegard. Bjerkreimselva flows into lake Ørsdalsvatnet that you can experience on the boat M/K Ørsdølen on Sundays during summer.
Other popular areas for fishing of trout and char are found in Sirdal and at lakes rv. 504 Fiskje. They consist of lakes Hedlevatna, Husavatn, Kappatjern, Litlamos, Litlavatn, Mellomstrandsvatn, Oslandsvatn, Romavatn, Røyslandsvatn, Stevetjern and Storemos.
Fishing in the sea is permitted without fishing permit along the entire coastline. You don't need a permit to fish in a fjord with a drop-line or fishing rod – even if you catch a salmon or trout.
