It is easy to bike on the different islands in Finnøy. On the Sjernarøy island there is a marked biking route called "Sjernarøyrunden". Here are two suggestions for two days' biking tours in Finnøy.
Common for both tours - narrow roads with few cars and easy biking (few hills).
Alternative 1
Travel with the speed boat to Judaberg at Finnøy and take either a long or a short bike ride on the island of Finnøy. Perhaps you would like to buy tomatoes from one of the local tomato greenhouses here. Or you can find pizza and a cafeteria at the harbour for some food to keep you going. From Judaberg the trip goes further on by ferry to Helgøysund in Sjernarøyene. Cycle the Sjernarøyrunden – a roundtrip marked from the ferry harbour. It goes straight across Helgøy, over the bridge to Talgje (north). Make a stop at the old marble quarry to enjoy the view over fjords and islands or do a hike in the nice nature, continue over the bridge to Tjul and from there towards Kyrkjøy. Here you can do several stops, especially for bathing and fishing possibilites. The trip continues via Eriksholm to Aubø and further on to Bjergøy where you can sleep at Furre Hytter (Furre Cabins) for the night.
Cycle on the next day along the Sjernarøyrunden that takes you to Nesheim and go on the speed boat to the island Halsnøy and cycle along this beautiful island. You can either take a speed boat via Finnøy to Stavanger or a ferry to Finnøy and a speed boat to Stavanger.
Alternative 2
Travel with the speed boat from Stavanger to the island Fogn. There is a road along all the island and several marked trails. Take the ferry from Fogn to Finnøy and cycle for a short trip or a long trip on the island of Finnøy before ending the day with the ferry from Finnøy to Nesheim, north in Sjernarøyene. Cycle along the Sjernarøyrunden (roundtrip) across Bjergøy to Furre Hytter (Furre Cabins) where you sleep for the night.
After a good night’s sleep, continue the trip by cycling further on along the Sjernarøyrunden across Aubø and Eriksholmen to Kyrkjøy. It is possible to make a stop at Handelsstedet Ramsvig where the restaurant is open during July. Many nice places for fishing and swimming on the islands. Continue the trip further across Tjul to Talgje (north) where there is a beautiful recreational area around the old marble quarry. Here is a beautiful view over islands, fjords and mountains. From here go further to Helgøysund to catch the ferry or a speed boat to Finnøy and the speed boat to Stavanger.
Bandåsen, StavangerBandåsen is with its 513 m the highest mountain peak in the islands of Ryfylke. From Tjeltveit, the hike goes along the old road (sjoarveien) to Helgeland. The farm court yard at Helgeland is located 285 metres above sea level. Currently, the farm is run as a sheep farm with one family living here…
